Some of the differences between partial hospitalization program vs. intensive outpatient program include:
- PHP treatment begins after completion of a residential program and helps ease the transition back to their daily lives. Patients can spend up to eight hours per day in therapy while receiving medication-assisted treatment to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
- IOP follows a PHP program and is less restrictive, with patients spending less time in therapy as their confidence and coping skills grow. They will spend up to 20 hours per week in therapy as they get used to spending more time at work and at home or in a sober living environment.
